This is an image from an ongoing series made with an group of dancer friends. I’ve always been fascinated with artists and their process, and dancers in particular. In a way, I think dance may be the most direct form of art. And by direct I mean that dance requires no machine or other media to translate the artists intention for the viewer.
A painter uses brushes and paint to express their ideas. A musician’s instrument translates breath and motion into sound. But a dancer’s body is their medium, needing no further translation between idea and product.
